Eurovision Union’s Weekly Playlist (19/52)

Each week, Eurovision Union will be bringing you a specially curated playlist featuring songs recently released by Eurovision or National Final artists, and a few of our old favourites. This week we’ve got a great mix of Eurovision 2017 related songs, plus new tracks from Eurovision and national final stars!

Listen to the playlist here:

Since Eurovision 2017 is freshly over, let’s discuss that first today! One of the most impressive performances this year came from a non-competitor, ironically! Monatik was the first semi-final opening act with the song Spinning, such a funky, modern pop song. We’ve also got the new song from Jamala, which was debuted in the Grand Final, and called I Believe In U.

From the participating entries, we’ve got the Italian version of Breathlessly, the Maltese entry. The song is called Perdersi, and of course performed by Claudia Faniello. From the female powerhouses this year O’G3NE, we’ve got their song Magic, which is still one of our favourites! From French participant Alma, we’ve taken a song off her newly released album, the song titled Ivre – this girl can do no wrong! Lastly, we’ve got Koit Toome and Laura. For us personally, Verona wasn’t a song we were in love with, but then we heard the 1985 version of the song, which for us is the favourite version of the song!

From national final stars, we’ve got FO&O with the song So So Good, which unsurprisingly is So So Good. Another 2017 Melfest star has released their entry acoustically, and that’s Nano with his entry Hold On. From neighbours Finland, we’ve got My First Band with a new track titled Summertime, Bitches, and from the national final, we’ve got the song Caveman by Knucklebone Oscar.

Keeping with the national final song theme, we’ve got I Go Where You Go by Jenny Augusta, which was a part of the Norwegian national final, and Color My World, which featured in the Danish national final this year. From Portugal, we’ve got David Gomes with the song My Paradise, which featured in the Portuguese national final this year. From Latvia, we’ve got Franco Franco with the Mickeen Remix of their Supernova song called Up.

From former national final or Eurovision artists, we’ve also got Tayanna, who was our favourite in the Ukrainian national final this year, but we’ve featured her recently released song. From Belgian Eurovision favourite, we’ve got Loïc Nottet with a song off his new debut album, the song called Poison. From Armenian representative in 2016, Iveta Mukuchyan, we’ve got Naturally High off her album/EP titled IvaVerse.

Last, but not least, we’ve recently received news about the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest, so we’ve featured one of our favourite entries of 2016, which also might be one of our favourite all time JESC entries – Water of Life by the Water of Life Project, who represented Russia. We’ve also got JESC alumni, Swedish Erik Rapp, who we’ve featured quite a bit this year, but for good reason. He’s graduated to an edgy sound, which can be heard in the acoustic version of Look Like Lovers, for which the music video has just been released.
